Soup plate, made in GlasgowThis soup plate was made by Robert Cochran & Co at either their Britannia or Verreville pottery in Glasgow. It dates from the second half of the 19th century. The plate's 'Genoa' pattern features a castle and gardens. The plate is marked 'R.C. & Co.'. The Clyde basin, like the Forth, was a natural location for the pottery industry, with a ready supply of coal, a growing market and good transport links.
