Knife

This flint knife from Moray dates from between around 2500 and 1500 BC.

The knife is roughly oval, with a flat underside and a convex upper surface. The upper surface has had some small flakes removed over part of its surface.

Simple flint knives were used for various purposes throughout prehistory. Plano-convex (or 'slug') knives tend to be Early Bronze Age in date, although specimens from the Neolithic Age are known.
