Rein guide from a yokeThis bronze rein guide from a yoke, also known as a terret, was found at the site of the native hillfort of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It dates from the first four centuries AD. The rein guide is of a type known as a decorated knobbed terret. It is in poor condition, but shows little sign of wear. Entire carts or wagons from this period rarely survive. Often all that is left are metal fittings and bindings, such as the harness fittings which attached a yoke to the harness.
