RecordStrap junction< 1 of 1 > Back From Middlebie, Dumfriesshire
Strap junctionThis is one of three similar bronze strap junctions found at Middlebie in Dumfriesshire. It was part of a hoard of 28 items, mainly objects for use on horse harnesses, deposited sometime in the first two centuries AD. The openwork strap junction was originally made of three pointed ovals, but only two survive. There is no sign of wear. Leather on harnesses rarely survives, but the metal fittings and ornaments are often preserved. Strap junctions come in many forms, some quite elaborate and decorative.
