Fragment of a bronze sickleThis piece of a bronze sickle was found at Premnay in Aberdeenshire. It is an early surviving example of a common agricultural tool. This sickle was used between 950 and 750 BC. The sickle has a socket which is incomplete at the end. The blade is also imperfect. Sickles were used from an early time to cut crops at harvest time.
