Mustard spoon (front), associated with MacLeods of Geanies, Ross-shireThis is the front of a silver mustard spoon associated with the MacLeods of Geanies in Ross-shire. The spoon is part of a service assembled by several generations of the family and was made in Calcutta in 1817, by Hamilton and Company. The spoon has been produced using a 'king's' pattern design by Morton of Edinburgh. The silver service is presumed to have been commissioned by Duncan MacLeod, a lieutenant-general in the Bengal Army, and his son Donald Friel Macleod, a prominent administrator in the Indian Civil Service.
